The 2013 ITCS conference takes time to celebrate at Tuesday evening’s Conference Banquet

Daniel Topfer accepts the award for the best paper of the conference for his paper “Efficient scene understanding for intelligent vehicles using a part-based road representation”.

Participants of the ITSC 2013 conference were able to celebrate this year’s gathering and look forward to next year this evening at the Conference Banquet. Awards and presentations were scattered among a three-course meal, featuring a smoked salmon salad, a veal tenderloin and the highly anticipated Bombe of Chocolate.

Awards were presented for papers of the year in the ITS journals, best papers of the conference, and several up and coming researches were recognized for the best student papers of the conference.

Even though this conference comes to a close on Wednesday, the ITS community is already looking forward to next year, when the 2014 conference will be held in Tsingtao, China. The organizers of this conference presented some highlights of the city to get everybody excited for the next ITSC gathering. Tsingtao is a beautiful modern yet historical city, features one of the 10 busiest ports in the world and is home to, of course, the famous Tsingtao Beer.

The audience was also reminded that the 2014 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium will be held in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Overall, spirits were high as intelligent transportation professionals took the opportunity to network, share ideas and enjoy each others company. And the verdict on the Bombe of Chocolate? It more than lived up to expectations!
